BENEFITS SERVICES

Responsible for paying patient claims, overage claims, beneficiary requests, and third party requests such as those from RCMP, ICBC, WCB, lawyers' offices, and coroners. Handles reconciliation and billing problems for practitioners, hospitals and service bureaus.

TRAVEL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TAP)

Physicians can order TAP forms for contacting HIBC Provider Services or by using the TAP automated application service.

Beneficiaries should telephone TAP before making travel arrangements to verify eligibility and receive a confirmation number. Applicants who present forms without confirmation numbers will be refused discounts. Applicants can complete their forms by using the TAP automated application service.

REGISTRATION

Assists MSP beneficiaries with enrolment, premium assistance, changes in coverage, and inquiries about benefits. An automated telephone line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide general information. Client service representatives are available through this line between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
